State Street Bank
State Street, a leading financial services provider offering investment management and securities administration based in Boston, MA saw an opportunity to provide mutual fund clients with the first
of a series of innovative services by offloading the many costly, time-consuming, and data-intensive tasks that need to occur at the end of every trading day. These Net Asset Valuation
(NAV) tasks include aggregating, monitoring, and analyzing fund data from multiple sources, and delivering the resulting data and reports to a variety of parties. Metatomix, Inc.
provided State Street with a development and runtime environment that enabled their developers to build a new enterprise services platform. The first service to be developed, tested,
and deployed using Metatomix semantic technology is the NAV Distributor Service. The NAV Distributor Service non-intrusively gathers and validates data from a range of internal and
external sources at the end of every trading day, monitors it according to a set of rules, performs calculations and analyses, and presents the results in multiple formats to a variety
of the State Street's customers and other parties via web browser. “Metatomix was the only vendor that had the whole package -- the platform and the development tools combined
in one, integrated toolset. We could see that the Metatomix platform was more proven,” said State Street's Global Product Manager in New Product Development.

`
Recognos recently formed Recognos Financial whose mission is to provide semantic technology products and services to the financial services industry. Recognos Financial offers three
distinct product sets. The first is the Data Product Set or Data Division. The second is the Technology Set or Technology Division. The third is a data Sourcing, Cleansing, and Validation
Service. All of these product types are geared toward developing a three data Silo model. These Silos are repositories of semantically organized data that will be available to clients for
many purposes. The first Silo is Recognos Financial data. This includes data sourced by Recognos Financial and data from other vendors that has been semantically organized by Recognos
Financial. It includes both structured and unstructured data. The ability to semantically convert unstructured and/or text data to computer useable structured data is one of the key benefits
of the service. The second Silo is data internal to an organization. While organizing all data for a given firm at one time is not practical, it is envisioned that smaller deployments
targeting specific needs is a viable means for establishing semantic technologies in large firms. As a result, the amount of information maintained over time within a given firm will grow
to ultimately include all data maintained internally within a given firm. This is the basis and approach to establishing Silo two. Silo three is intended to represent all of the other efforts
that take place both within the industry and with the World Wide Web in general, that semantically organize data thereby providing a given firm with virtually unlimited data related capabilities
through the ability to combine all three Silos and use all data to support all applications and functions. In actual implementation, any given Silo could be comprised of numerous sub-silos.
From an IT perspective, the focus of Recognos Financial is on the provision of consulting and project resources to develop and deploy semantic applications within client firms. This goal is
accomplished by educating potential clients, identifying opportunities for clients, and developing/deploying semantic based applications in support of those clients. In addition to the
professional services offered, Recognos Financial also offers Data Sourcing, Cleansing, and Validation Services to support the establishment and ongoing maintenance of semantic data repositories
within its client firms.

Regions Bank
Regions Financial Corporation is a member of the S&P 100 Index and, with more than $140 billion in assets, one of the nation's largest full-service providers
of consumer and commercial banking, trust, securities brokerage, mortgage and insurance products and services. Union Planters Bank – now a part of Regions –
initially licensed the Metatomix platform to build custom, intelligent integration applications to support complex event processing. For example, Metatomix orchestrates the entire wire
transfer process across 4-5 different systems to manage the transaction end-to-end, eliminating processing errors and improving cash flow and customer satisfaction. Another application
of the platform is automated mortgage processing, which dramatically speeds up the turn around time for mortgage processing and decreases department headcount. Over time, Regions
has leveraged the Metatomix platform’s non-invasive access to data and ability to do complex event processing to grow the footprint of the application to include more systems
acquired in its various mergers.
