Semantic Technology Overview

What makes Metatomix technology unique?

Metatomix technology is a patented combination of model based integration and dynamic rules within an integrated development and runtime environment, creating integration solutions that think and act in real-time based on organizational policies.

Metatomix technology uses Semantic Services to intelligently gather data from existing systems, use a common model to understand how relevant data relates to each other, and then leverage that knowledge to make decisions and implement actions.

Metatomix Semantic Services are a unique and patented combination of

  • Model based integration
  • Dynamic rules
  • Integrated development and run-time environment

Like a Brain, Metatomix technology has the capacity to understand. Model based integration provides a common description (ontology) of explicitly defined organizational knowledge, relationships between disparate data and policies. As actual data is mapped into the model (using Metatomix’s data access in-place services) differences in meaning and context between data are reconciled. New knowledge and insights are identified.

Dynamic rules are the decision making capabilities of the Brain. Metatomix uses a standard rules engine (JESS) that consults the model for understanding and policies, dynamically evaluating facts against policies to make decisions. Because the relationships and policies are explicitly defined in the model, Metatomix automatically generates rules that are used.

Metatomix’s integrated development and run-time environment is the body that complements the Brain. A Brain without a body has no way to sense the world around it, bring information to it, and then take action once a decision is made. The integrated development and runtime environment contains the services to reach out to sources of information and sense events, interacting seamlessly with the brain to gather facts until a decision can be reached.  Once a decision is made, it is also the mechanism that orchestrates simple to complex event processes across the organization to implement actions prescribed by the Brain’s knowledge of the organization and its policies.

The results? Solutions that are quick to create, fast to deploy, and inexpensive to maintain.
