Henry County system to be implemented under terms of state prosecutors' agreement.
WALTHAM, MA, April 4, 2006 — Metatomix, Inc., the leader in semantic composite applications, today announced that Henry County, GA, has awarded the company a contract for an integrated criminal justice information system for the county's judicial and law enforcement agencies. The contract was signed under the terms and conditions of a statewide agreement approved three weeks ago for implementation of a similar system in Crisp County, GA.
The Henry County contract, valued at $764,000, will connect data sources from nine different agencies in the county: the Henry County superior, state, juvenile and magistrate courts; the Henry County Sheriff's office; the police department; the public defender's office; the Flint Judicial Circuit District Attorney's office; and a financial database. It will allow officials in all those offices to share and process case information while leaving each office's own case-management system in place. The system will eliminate the duplication of effort and the potential for errors in the current systems that rely on repeated input of the same data or copying from paper forms.
"We've evaluated systems from many vendors over the years and Metatomix was the only one that could deliver this level of performance without requiring any changes in existing software," said Rob Magnaghi, County Manager. "The other options we've explored would have cost millions of dollars and taken years to implement. This will both speed up access to vital information and improve the quality by reducing errors." "This contract, signed under the terms of the agreement we signed with the Georgia Prosecuting Attorneys Council, begins to spread the benefits of the system that has been operating in Crisp County for a number of months now," said Mike Kinkead, CEO of Metatomix. "We are looking forward to bringing other Georgia counties and judicial circuits online."
In the Henry County system, an arrest warrant served by the sheriff's office, for example, will automatically be routed and integrated into the systems in place in other offices that need the information, such as the magistrate's court. The Metatomix system requires no modifications in each agency's case-management software and does not alter any of the data in any agency's system.
By employing advanced semantic processing technology, the Metatomix system is able to pull data from the often-incompatible case management and booking systems used by the different agencies, process it and circulate it instantly to all the agencies involved. The system automatically exchanges information such as new arrests and warrants among the different offices without any manual intervention. Those tasks formerly required telephone calls or an exchange of paperwork. This keeps all the agencies involved up-to-date on every case in the criminal justice system.
