Dedham, Mass., October 27, 2008 — Metatomix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic solutions to justice and public safety, financial services, manufacturing and life sciences organizations, today announced that the State of Ohio Supreme Court (SCO) is implementing the company’s Judicial Inquiry System (JIS) product to share information among 385 courts with more than 530 court divisions state-wide.
Metatomix’s JIS product will enable the SCO, as well as state agencies such as the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI), Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, to share, integrate and access cross-agency data in real-time. By providing the SCO with real-time access to cross agency information, JIS will not only improve the accuracy of information, but also provide significant time savings. The overall result for the SCO will be a more effective judicial decision-making process.
Metatomix, along with partner Unisys Corp., a worldwide technology services and solutions company, initially worked together to create the Ohio Courts Network (OCN), a closed private application. Leveraging the (OCN) state-wide data warehouse as one of its primary data sources, Metatomix’s JIS now streamlines information from this and other state agencies into a real-time, central dashboard accessible by judges and support-related personnel. This system allows authorized users to query critical court case history simultaneously among participating state data sources. Information contained in the OCN is critical for justice related processes such as background checks, handgun purchases, issuance of commercial driver and pilot licenses, immigration, AMBER Alerts, domestic violence protections and child support compliance, all of which are vital to the public safety of Ohio citizens.
