Dedham, Mass., August 25, 2009 — Metatomix, Inc., a leading provider of semantic solutions to justice and public safety, financial services, manufacturing and life sciences organizations, today announced that Metatomix customer Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Court Administration, part of the Florida 20th Judicial Circuit, was given a Honorable Mention for the 2009 Government Computer News (GCN) Agency IT Award. The circuit along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Court Administration was specifically recognized for the implementation of Metatomix’s Active Warrant Alert Calendar (AWAC) system.
The GCN Agency IT Award recognizes government agency information technology projects with outstanding IT initiatives. In Lee County, court and law enforcement officials are able to receive real-time access to warrant information across local, state, and national data sources using Metatomix’s AWAC system. Last year, officials were able to identify 141 active warrants that led to 16 arrests – all within the first seven days of implementation.
“The annual GCN Awards honor agencies for their outstanding achievements in the application of information technology to advance their work and the services they provide” said GCN Editor-in-Chief Wyatt Kash. “The 2009 agency winners are now part of a tradition of innovation, excellence, and service. We congratulate them for their extraordinary work and their continued dedication to better serving the public sector.”
“We’re delighted to see the Florida 20th Judicial Circuit recognized for its outstanding accomplishments in improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the criminal justice system,” said Metatomix Director of Product Management Christian Barr. “The implementation of the Active Warrant Alert Calendar system in Lee County has allowed officials to successfully identify dozens of criminals and better protect the local communities.”
Award winners will be profiled in the October 12 issue of the magazine and will also be honored at GCN's 22nd Annual Awards Gala, held on Thursday, October 22, at the Hilton Washington in Washington, D.C. The Florida 20th Judicial Circuit joins nine other distinguished agencies in receiving this honor.
